As a Coordinator of Design Thinking, at Pathways World School Aravali, an International Baccalaureate School in India, I have the opportunity to introduce Design Thinking as a Pedagogy and Process across the three IB programs; Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP).
To set up a background, I would introduce Design Thinking as a passion-driven cognitive, strategic, creative and practical process of solving problems around us and in our communities. To emphasize, it is a ‘process’ rather than a ‘subject’ that can be used as a tool to develop a product, system or service. This has widened the scope of its implementation and application in an academic setup and hence, found its close association and overlapping practices in many departments such as the Community Aided Services (CAS). At the end of the term, the groups presented their design problem along with a proposed solution, supporting it with research, poster presentations and design prototypes. Below are some of the Design Interventions in Communities.
